Even with namesake Congressman Andrew Volstead's prohibition long gone, this subterranean Midtown hangout is well worth a visit. The swanky 2,500 square-foot space serves tasty drinks like the Volstead Lemonade (vodka, lemon, sugar and club soda) and the Cucumber Collins (gin, cucumber, lime juice and club soda) along with eats like short rib pot pie and—most importantly—"pops," the Volstead's name for such dishes as mini crab cakes, mac 'n' cheese, and shrimp dumplings served on a stick, like a lollipop. Event organizers take note: the speakeasy gladly hosts corporate shindigs.
