Since 1951, the United Nations Postal Administration (UNPA) has been the postal agency of the United Nations, issuing postage stamps and postal stationery in dollar denominations for the United Nations office. The stamps, which are valid for postage only if mailed at United Nations Headquarters in New York City, are designed to illustrate the aims and achievements of the United Nations and its family of organizations, and are often treasured by philatelists as collectors’ items.
