The Empire Outlets debuted on May 15, 2019, with 1.1 million square feet of retail space including approximately 100 shops: Brooks Brothers, H&M, Nordstrom Rack, Nike Factory, Gap Outlet, Polo and more, plus an extensive array of waterfront food and beverage concepts. Empire Outlets is a category-defining retail destination and New York City's first and only shopping outlet. It will be the retail centerpiece of New York City's newest entertainment district of Staten Island's waterfront (empireoutletsnyc.com).

Meatpacking District, Manhattan

In April or May 2019, a new, more relaxed and intimate concept by the iconic Birkin handbag maker will open with an emphasis on footwear, enamel bracelets and accessories. Introduction of a small, informal café, rooftop space for events and activations, and bar stools and tables throughout the jewelry section will encourage guests to linger in the third and final store planned for the destination (hermes.com).

Kit Kemp at Bergdof
Midtown, Manhattan

As of April, the world of Kit Kemp, the British design icon, co-owner and creative director of Firmdale Hotels, in The Loft on the seventh floor of Bergdorf Goodman. The vibrant colors of her exclusive collections of furniture, fabrics and home accessories are on display within three living spaces: a bedroom, drawing room and dining room (firmdalehotels.com).

Nike x Nordstrom
Midtown East, Manhattan

Nike x Nordstrom launched their first NxN shop specifically for men at the Nordstrom Men’s Store in April 2019. The sneaker boutique is curated by Olivia Kim, VP of Creative Projects, and features shoes and accessories from some of the most talked about brands in fashion (shop.nordstrom.com).

STORY at Macy’s
Midtown, Manhattan

Macy’s launched STORY, a new narrative-driven retail concept shop at Macy’s Herald Square location debuted on April 10, 2019, with the inaugural theme of “Color.” STORY invites customers to experience color through a rainbow of curated products and over 300 events. With themes changing every few months, customers will experience new, dynamic programs every time they visit Macy’s Herald Square. (macysinc.com).

Sergio Rossi
Upper East Side, Manhattan

In spring 2019 Italian luxury label Sergio Rossi launched its second U.S. retail location, on New York City’s Madison Avenue. The store offers customers an interactive customization service that allows them to style their own slippers, pumps and running shoes in exclusive options, and includes a capsule collection that is only available at the Madison Avenue location (sergiorossi.com).

Nike Flagship
Midtown East, Manhattan

After opening an innovative new store in Soho in 2016, Nike recently opened a new flagship in Midtown East as well. The store is grounded by Hyperlive on the lower level, a small-format retail concept with speed lockers for easy pick-ups and returns. “Sneakerheads” (enthusiasts) can enjoy the NikePlus members-only fifth-floor destination, home to customized apparel and Nike Expert Sessions, among other exclusive offerings (nike.com).

SoHo, Manhattan

Showfields, “The Most Interesting Store in the World,” debuted in a historic 1913 building in Soho in December 2018. Over time, the innovative retail experience will span four levels, including retail, a community loft space, an art gallery, café and retail discovery tour (showfields.com).

SJP by Sarah Jessica Parker
Seaport District, Manhattan

Known for her role as the shoe-loving Carrie Bradshaw in Sex and The City, Sarah Jessica Parker has created her own collection of contemporary footwear that has a permanent home in NYC as of fall 2018. Each pair is handcrafted in Italy and features a grosgrain ribbon detail, an homage to Parker’s childhood. Another personal touch: the flagship’s blush pink walls and mosaic-tiled floor were handpicked by SJP (seaportdistrict.nyc).

Gabriela Hearst
Upper East Side, Manhattan

Housed inside the Carlyle Hotel, the new Madison Avenue flagship from fashion designer Gabriela Hearst has been hailed by Vogue as “the most beautiful store in New York,” following its opening in fall 2018. Originally from Uruguay—where Hearst’s family are sixth generation sheep farmers—the designer is known for producing garments of impeccable quality using only the finest merino wool (gabrielahearst.com).

SoHo, Manhattan

London-based label Whistles, worn frequently by Kate Middleton, opened in Soho in fall 2018. This is the first NYC shop for the brand, which is known for its collection of contemporary womenswear. Metallic sneakers, printed midi dresses and shearling coats fill the racks. The store mimics an art gallery, featuring paintings by Rosie Tonkin as well as fixtures made by hand (whistles.com).

RH New York
Meatpacking District, Manhattan

In September 2018, Restoration Hardware debuted RH New York, The Gallery, a new 90,000 square-foot retail experience. RH New York has entire floors dedicated to its various interior design brands, a Rooftop Restaurant and Wine Terrace, a Barista Bar, and a six-story art installation of hand-blown crystal lights. An 11-room RH Guest House is planned to open on Gansevoort Street in 2019 (restorationhardware.com).

Beauty 2.0 @ Saks
Midtown Manhattan

In May 2018, iconic department store Saks Fifth Avenue unveiled an entirely reimagined 32,000-square-foot beauty floor overlooking Fifth Avenue and bathed in natural light. Boasting immersive new concepts that engage the senses, makeup, skincare fragrance and wellness feature prominently. Innovative new elements include FaceGym, a facial/workout for natural lift; an Ex Nihilo Osmologue, where visitors create their own fragrance; an apothecary and beauty concierge; concept stores by Gucci and Givenchy, and exclusive-to-Saks spa rooms by Dior and Chanel. A new event space for master classes and wellness talks will appeal to incentive and spousal program planners (saksfifthavenue.com).

Nordstrom Men’s Store
Midtown West, Manhattan

Nordstrom’s first foray into New York City began April 2018, with the opening of a men’s store in Columbus Circle, which includes the Clubhouse Bar and a coffee shop, custom denim designs, personal stylists, shoe shining, grooming and more. A larger women’s flagship store across the street will follow in fall 2019 (nordstrom.com).


Harry Winston Flagship
Midtown East, Manhattan

New York City’s iconic jewelry salon Harry Winston is undergoing an extensive renovation of its 56-year-old flagship store. Set to be completed in 2019, the company will reopen its flagship location on Fifth Avenue, rejoining more than 30 other Harry Winston jewelry salons around the world. During construction, they are operating at 701 Fifth Avenue (harrywinston.com).

Ralph & Russo
Upper East Side, Manhattan

In 2019 British couture house Ralph & Russo is expected to open a new flagship on Madison Avenue after a signing a 15 year lease in May, 2019. The Australian design team behind the brand is perhaps best known for designing the dress Meghan Markle, the Duchess of Sussex, wore in her engagement photos in 2017 (ralphandrusso.com)

Alexander McQueen Fashion House
SoHo, Manhattan

The late British fashion icon’s parent company signed a lease this may, to open by 2020, a 6,600 McQueen sqft fashion house in SoHo by 2020, twice the size of the flagship store on Madison Avenue. The Brand is known to be home to quirky, eccentric designs. (alexandermcqueen.com)

Tiffany & Co. Flagship
Midtown East, Manhattan

In August the iconic 181-year-old jeweler announced a three-year plan to renovate its flagship, which opened in 1940 and boasts 45,000 square feet of retail space. Construction to renovate the 10-story Fifth Avenue location is set to begin in spring 2019 and conclude in Q4 of 2021. Total expected cost is approximately $250 million or 2 percent of worldwide sales annually. Operations will move next door to the former home of Nikeworld (press.tiffany.com).
