The Union Square Partnership is a community-based nonprofit organization working to foster the betterment of Union Square residents, businesses, property owners and employers. It combines the very first business improvement district in New York City, founded in 1984, and the area’s local development corporation, which merged together in 2003. The partnership works to market the identity of Union Square, has set up an education program at its Washington Irving High School and sponsors free community events—including the well-known weekly greenmarket—as well as seminars and networking receptions.
