Climate Week NYC and NYC & Company Aim to Build a Better Future

New York City – September 14, 2020 – For the second year, Climate Week NYC and NYC & Company are partnering on the Sustainable Travel and Tourism program to discuss how travel and tourism can be an ally in sustainable development. From supporting local sustainable businesses to rediscovering local attractions, Climate Week NYC 2020 is focused on building a better future for all.

NYC & Company is the official destination marketing organization and convention and visitors bureau for the five boroughs of New York City. NYC & Company, in partnership with Climate Week NYC, will host an NYC& Company Talks virtual event on September 24, to discuss the latest on climate action in NYC. In addition to remarks from Climate Week NYC, there will be a special fireside chat between NYC & Company President and CEO Fred Dixon and the Mayor’s Office of Sustainability Director Mark Chambers, to address the overarching goals of OneNYC and how the City is continuing to pursue its goal of 80% carbon neutrality by 2050 while protecting New Yorkers and visitors from the coronavirus.

NYC & Company has also created a guide to supporting sustainability in NYC in this new era.

The new Climate Week NYC mobile phone app lists local sustainable businesses that the public can support during these times. From zero-waste grocery stores to slow fashion brands, New Yorkers and visitors can help build back a better and safer New York City. All 300+ Climate Week NYC events, including those under the Sustainable Travel and Tourism program, will also be available to explore on the app.

Climate Week NYC is the largest international climate summit taking place this year from September 21-27, 2020. The events program is organized by 10 themes, including Youth, Mobilization and Justice, Industry and the Built Environment, Sustainable Travel and Tourism, Clean Energy Transition and more.
