NYC & COMPANY CELEBRATES FIRST ANNUAL NORTH AMERICAN MEETINGS INDUSTRY DAY

—“Make it Face-to-Face, Make it NYC” Video Highlights Power of Hosting Meetings in New York City—

New York City (April 16, 2015) — NYC & Company, New York City’s official marketing, tourism and partnership organization, today celebrates the power of face-to-face meetings in New York City on the first annual North American Meetings Industry Day (NAMID). To commemorate the event, NYC & Company has launched a video, entitled “Make it Face-to-Face, Make it NYC” in which meetings delegates and exhibitors discuss their reasons for hosting face-to-face meetings and why they chose New York City as their destination to do so. The video can today be found via NYC & Company’s homepage, nycgo.com, and on the organization’s official YouTube page, youtube.com/user/nycvisit.

As part of the U.S. Travel Association’s Meetings Mean Business Coalition, which is organizing NAMID, NYC & Company encourages Meetings, Incentives, Conferences and Exhibitions (MICE) industry travel to New York City, emphasizing the impact meetings and events have on New York City’s economy, businesses and communities. Throughout the year, NYC & Company’s Convention Sales and Destination Services teams secure MICE business to New York City and offer resources to meeting planners, exhibitors and delegates as they “Make it NYC.”

“As a proud member of the Meetings Mean Business Coalition, NYC & Company is pleased to celebrate New York City’s thriving meetings and conventions industry today,” said Fred Dixon, NYC & Company president and CEO. “New York City remains a leading meetings destination, with an unrivaled diversity in hotels, venues, one-of-a-kind group activities and more, and we commend those who choose to ‘Make it NYC’ each year.”

In “Make it Face-to-Face, Make it NYC,” delegates and exhibitors explain the importance of doing business face-to-face, as individuals can connect on a personal level and form long-lasting relationships that ultimately result in profitable business. And, as the video shows, there is no better place than New York City to host meetings, since the City attracts people from all over the world. As the leading U.S. destination for overseas visitation, the City offers opportunities to do business with people from Sydney to Shanghai, and from Berlin to Buenos Aires, over the course of just a few days.

Also part of the celebration, the Meetings Mean Business and NAMID logos will be displayed in rotation in the Crossroads of the World, Times Square, on a Clear Channel billboard at the intersection of Broadway and 47th Street throughout the day.

In 2014 New York City welcomed an estimated 6.1 million meeting and convention delegates who spent $5.3 billion in the five boroughs. An important element of New York City’s tourism industry, MICE visitation from around the globe increases each year.
