NYC & COMPANY EXPANDS WEST COAST CONVENTION DEVELOPMENT PRESENCE 



Los Angeles, CA (January 13, 2016) – NYC & Company, the City’s official destination marketing organization, has expanded its Convention Development reach with Cory Rosenberg, regional director of sales for the West Coast, handling the market from Los Angeles as of January 1. In his in-market role, Rosenberg targets key West Coast industries that are vital to the expansion of the City’s convention development segment. Rosenberg was previously based in New York City at NYC & Company’s headquarters.



“With industries burgeoning on the West Coast including technology, software, bio-medical, retail, association and incentive, it is advantageous for our team to have a presence in the market, full time,” said Jerry Cito, NYC & Company senior vice president, Convention Development. “We are committed to showing planners that New York City is the ideal place to host these meetings, in 2016 and beyond.”   



“The West Coast is an ever-growing market for New York City’s meetings and conventions industry and being stationed permanently in California means having even more face-to-face time with integral meeting planners and encouraging them to bring their next meeting or event to the City,” said Rosenberg. “I look forward to promoting NYC through sales activities this year, including regional trade shows and events, and engaging personally with the West Coast planner community.”



In 2015 New York City welcomed an estimated 6.1 million meeting and convention delegates, a record high. California and the West Coast are top source markets for delegate visitation to New York City, with West Coast business growing 80% from 2014–15, generating approximately 45,000 room-nights last year.



In October 2015 NYC & Company launched its refreshed Make it NYC meetings and conventions marketing campaign with a new tagline, “Meet Where You Want to Be.” The campaign showcases the vibrancy of the destination through iconic imagery and highlights the reasons that meetings in New York City are anticipated by delegates and planners alike.
