New York City (March 27, 2012) — NYC & Company, the official marketing, tourism and partnership organization for the City of New York, and teen retailer Aéropostale today announced the creation of an exclusive line of T-shirts featuring iconic New York City agencies, including the NYPD, FDNY, NYC Taxi & Limousine Commission, and Parks & Recreation. The new collection includes six men’s graphic T-shirts created by C-Life Group Ltd., and will be available exclusively at select Aéropostale stores across the United States and Canada and on Aeropostale.com beginning March 29. This is NYC & Company’s first retail marketing partnership.
“Aéropostale is a universally recognized brand, and we are proud to work with them on our first retail marketing partnership,” said George Fertitta, CEO of NYC & Company. “The new designs, with our highly recognized marks, including the NYPD and the FDNY, are a great expansion to our current selection of merchandise. This new partnership enables us to increase the retail exposure of our licensing program throughout North America and abroad.”
"C-Life is thrilled to have partnered on this venture between NYC & Company and Aéropostale,” said Heather Miceli, Vice President of Licensing for C-Life Group. “It seemed like a natural fit, and the T-shirts capture the City’s energy."
The new limited edition T-shirt collection is designed to appeal to fashion-forward teens between the ages of 14 and 17. New York City–licensed products resonate with those who live outside of the five boroughs, as a record 50.5 million visitors traveled to the five boroughs in 2011.
Aéropostale is a committed supporter of the New York City community; a portion of the proceeds from the sale of the T-shirt collection will benefit the New York City Police Foundation (nycpolicefoundation.org) and the FDNY Foundation (fdnyfoundation.org).
