NYC & COMPANY WELCOMES BACK THE SUMMER 2015 EDITION OF NY NOW®, THE MARKET FOR HOME, LIFESTYLE + GIFT, AUGUST 15-19

—New York City’s Largest Trade Show to Showcase Exclusive Product Launches, With More Than 43,000 Buyers & Suppliers in Attendance—

New York City (August 10, 2015) – NYC & Company, New York City’s official marketing, tourism and partnership organization, welcomes back the summer edition of NY NOW, the Market for Home, Lifestyle + Gift (formerly NYIGF®), to New York City starting this Saturday, August 15 through Wednesday, August 19, 2015. The semi-annual event, New York City’s largest trade show, will showcase 100,000 products – including exclusive industry debuts – presented by 2,600+ home, lifestyle and gift vendors from the U.S. and a record number of international countries.  The Market is expected to draw 43,000 total trade attendees from all 50 states and 70+ countries worldwide, to New York City’s Jacob K. Javits Convention Center. New York City welcomed 6.1 million meeting and convention delegates in 2014, with a projected forecast of 6.3 million delegates for 2015.

“As our largest trade show, we are thrilled to welcome the tens of thousands of buyers, sellers and industry professionals who visit New York City to spot the latest trends and discover the newest products at NY NOW,” said Fred Dixon, NYC & Company president and CEO. “Conventions and tradeshows are an integral piece of the tourism industry - bringing millions of visitors each to New York - and a great motivator for visitors to explore exciting spots around the five boroughs.”

NY NOW is the premier market for home, lifestyle and gift merchandise. The trade-only event, which is not open to consumers, offers retailers the opportunity to shop from an extensive range of innovative products. This summer, record number of new and returning exhibitors as well as international exhibitors, complement the full slate of educational sessions, feature displays and new product awards available at NY NOW.

“The energy and excitement of New York City offers the perfect backdrop for NY NOW,” said Randi Mohr/Scott Kramer, NY NOW co-director and vice president.  “The Market offers buyers from the U.S. and abroad access to leading industry suppliers and innovative newcomers, as well as after-hours entertainment, dining, retail and attractions offered only in New York City.”

"Summer in New York would not be complete without the summer edition of NY NOW, our largest trade show," said Alan Steel, president and CEO of the New York Convention Center Operating Corporation, which operates the Javits Center. "With 43,000 attendees from all 50 states and more than 70 countries, this dynamic event exemplifies the energy and enthusiasm of New York City and New York State, as well as the economic potential for all of the businesses who unveil their latest products here. We are always proud to host NY NOW, which will help to continue to strengthen the Empire State's economy."

More than 2,600 NY NOW exhibitors will display products in three Collections: HOME, featuring innovative designs in furnishings and home textiles, tabletop and gourmet housewares; LIFESTYLE, showcasing top trends in gift and stationery, personal accessories, wellness and personal care, and juvenile resources; and HANDMADE, highlighting artisanal cross-category resources from international and limited-production makers. While first-time exhibitors are well-represented in all three collections, a record number of newcomers will be featured this August.

Beyond exhibits, market highlights include exclusive appearances by Mimi Sheraton, former New York Times restaurant critic and author of 1,000 Foods To Eat Before you Die: A Food Lover’s Life List and Erinn V, designer to the stars; SustainAbility display showcasing eco-friendly and socially responsible products and business practices; Open House display and related seminar program addressing design and color trends, as well as related consumer preferences; and a slate of programming addressing retail strategies such as digital market, Millennial marketing and employment trends, brand building, story-selling and more.  In addition, NY NOW and HGTV Magazine have partnered to present a first-ever #NYNOW Social Media Lounge.

NY NOW is open to members of the trade only, not the general public. Press may register online at nynow.com/press through August 13, or by contacting CathySteel@CathySteelAssociates.com. Badges will be held for pickup in the NY NOW Press Center, located on the Javits Center’s 4A Terrace.
