NYC & COMPANY WINS WEBBY AWARD
FOR BEST TRAVEL WEBSITE

—NYCgo.com Awarded Top Honor by the International Academy of Digital Arts and Sciences—

New York City (April 26, 2017)—NYC & Company, New York City’s official destination marketing organization, today announced its win over four global contenders for Best Travel Website in the 21st Annual Webby Awards. The accolade—considered the “Internet's highest honor”—was awarded by members of the International Academy of Digital Arts and Sciences, which hosts the yearly event to recognize excellence in websites, film & video, advertising, media & PR, mobile sites & apps, social and podcasts & digital audio. This is NYC & Company’s third Webby Award for its website, NYCgo.com, which showcases New York City’s five boroughs as a vibrant travel destination. The organization was also named an honoree in this year’s Mobile Sites & Apps: Travel category.

“NYC & Company is thrilled to receive the Best Travel Website accolade for the newly-redesigned NYCGO.com in the 21st Annual Webby Awards,” said Fred Dixon, president and CEO of NYC & Company. “The most exciting and diverse destination in the world deserved a website that reflects just that, and it is an incredible honor for our team’s work to be recognized among such prestigious nominees.”

In June 2016 NYC & Company launched a newly rebuilt and reimagined NYCGO.com as part of the organization’s visual rebrand. Led by Senior Director of Product Development Christopher Galatioto and Senior Content Director Jonathan Durbin, the website was developed completely in-house, with capabilities and features now including mobile-first and responsive design to optimize user experiences across devices; increased video presence; integrated and contextual mapping and a flexible platform to serve multiple audiences; and the ability to surface member, partner and user-generated content. Since the relaunch, website visits have increased by more than 20 percent.

With 13,000 entries from all 50 states and more than 70 countries worldwide, the 21st Annual Webby Awards is the biggest in its history. Winners were selected by the judges for overall experience, content, structure & navigation, visual design, functionality and interactivity. Best Travel Website nominees consisted of sites that provide travel services and information, including Lonely Planet, Condé Nast Traveler, The Weather Channel and Roads & Kingdoms.

NYC & Company will be recognized at an awards ceremony at Cipriani Wall Street on May 15, hosted by comedian and actor Joel McHale. The ceremony will be streamed online the following morning at webbyawards.com.
