New York City (January 14, 2013) — NYC & Company, New York City’s marketing, tourism and partnership organization, announces NYC Restaurant Week Winter 2013 starts today, January 14. The popular dining event offers New Yorkers and visitors 20-plus days of dining deals from January 14 to February 8, Mondays through Fridays, with Saturdays excluded and Sundays optional. Pricing has slightly increased for the first time since 2006; three-course prix-fixe lunches cost $25 and three-course prix-fixe dinners $38 (excluding beverages, gratuities and taxes). Diners can make reservations at more than 300 participating restaurants at nycgo.com/restaurantweek.

“NYC Restaurant Week is an unparalleled culinary event that both New Yorkers and visitors look forward to twice a year,” said NYC & Company CEO George Fertitta. “With new additions each season, the growing program offers everyone an opportunity to enjoy three-course meals at some of the City’s finest restaurants at a discounted price. We encourage everyone to take advantage of this dining deal and to celebrate the restaurants that make New York the capital of fine dining.”

“NYC Restaurant Week brings together a community of our city’s best dining destinations,” said Tracy Nieporent, NYC & Company Restaurant Committee Chairman. “It is our hope that you will dine at new restaurants and revisit old favorites. At every restaurant, we are honored when you join us to experience the quality, variety and hospitality that make New York City the dining capital of the world.”

NYC Restaurant Week is the first and largest dining program of its kind supporting the City’s thriving restaurant industry, which employs over 200,000 people and grosses annual sales exceeding $12 billion. New York City offers more dining options than most states, boasting 24,000 restaurants and food service establishments.

Consumers’ enthusiasm for the program remains strong. According to OpenTable, through NYC Restaurant Week online reservations, more than 490,000 diners were seated during the 2012 promotion—about a 26 percent increase year over year.
