OFF-BROADWAY WEEK STARTS MONDAY, SEPTEMBER 26 —2-For-1 Tickets On Sale for More Than 25 Off-Broadway Productions—

New York City (September 21, 2011)—NYC & Company, New York City’s official marketing, tourism and partnership organization, the Off-Broadway League and media partner Time Out New York reminds New Yorkers and visitors that Off-Broadway Week starts on Monday, September 26. Theatergoers can take advantage of 2-for-1 tickets to more than 25 Off-Broadway shows for performances through October 9 on nycgo.com/offbroadwayweek. Off-Broadway Week, formerly called On the House, was created to showcase the authenticity of New York City and celebrate the creativity of our City’s theater community as well as provide unprecedented savings for all.

“Off-Broadway offers a diversity of genres, including family-friendly productions, musicals, comedies and dramas. There is something for everyone,” said George Fertitta, CEO of NYC & Company. “With 2-for-1 tickets to more than 25 Off-Broadway shows, there is no better time to take advantage of this savings opportunity and experience some of the best theater in the world.”

"For me, some of the most daring, inventive, challenging and entertaining nights in theater have been spent watching an Off-Broadway show. The community here in New York is filled with artists working at the top of their game in a usually more intimate and experimental way than we are used to seeing in a Broadway house,” said Jonathan Groff, starring in Jeff Talbott’s The Submission, which runs through October 22 at the MCC Theater at The Lucille Lortel Theatre. “I feel incredibly proud to be a part of this community. Come and see an Off-Broadway production."

Off-Broadway theaters, which have 100–499 seats, are located throughout Manhattan and offer an intimate setting for guests. Limited-engagement productions such as The Submission and We Live Here join long-running shows such as The Awesome 80s Prom, The Fantasticks, Fuerza Bruta and Love, Loss, and What I Wore for the fall promotion.
