New York, NY (July 16, 2007)On June 25, Mayor Michael R. Bloomberg launched GreeNYC, a consumer education plan to create a greener New York and one of the world's premier eco-friendly large cities. "Mayor Bloomberg has made this a top priority, and we want to encourage New Yorkers and visitors alike to do their part in preserving our great city. In this week's segment, we showcased just a sample of the many environmentally-friendly activities that are enjoyable, but also allow people to make a difference."NYC Visit's featured items this week included Stuyvesant Cove Park, which hosts the Citysol Festival July 1215, Birdbath, Neighborhood Green Bakery, the Floating the Apple rowing organization and the Dos Caminos restaurant chain. These destinations, like the city, residents and visitors they serve, have made concerted efforts to reduce waste and energy use and integrate environmentally friendly products and practices. "You can grab a delicious organic muffin at one of the Birdbath bakeries and take the L train to Stuyvesant Cove Park to listen to fantastic music in an eco-friendly setting. After that, get some exercise out on the water and finish up your day with a delicious meal at a green-certified restaurant."Stuyvesant Cove Park, located on the FDR Drive at East 23 Street, will be host to Citysol 2007 from July 1215, 2007. CitySol is a clean-energy-powered festival with live music, interactive art installations, games and workshops. With locations in the East and West Village, the Birdbath, Neighborhood Green Bakery, offers a sustainable store with shelving and countertops made of 100% recycled paper and walls made of wheat in addition to its sought-after organic baked goods.
