—NYC Visit Provides Visitors with Ideas on Where to Go to Try Something New During the Long Weekend—

New York, NY (August 27, 2007)—WNBC's Perri Peltz and Fred Dixon of NYC & Company, New York City's official marketing and tourism organization, recommended a few non-traditional Labor Day weekend activities on the August 24 NYC Visit segment on WNBC's News 4 You. The segment featured three locations for visitors looking to come to the City for the holiday and try something new.

"Labor Day weekend is right around the corner and that normally means barbecues and trips to the beach or the pool," said Dixon. "But these non-traditional ideas will add an extra kick to your weekend and make this Labor Day a memorable one. Off-broadway shows, IMAX screenings and Salsa dancing may not normally be associated with Labor Day, but we guarantee you'll have a blast—who knows, maybe this can be the start of a new tradition."

Featured activities included the Dinosaurs Alive! IMAX screening at the American Museum of Natural History, the off-Broadway show Forbidden Broadway and the 7th Annual New York Salsa Congress.

"Labor Day is always exciting because it kicks off the fall season and the start of the school year," said WNBC anchor Perri Peltz. "But the long weekend can sometimes feel a bit stale when you do the same thing year after year. Visiting New York City can be the perfect solution—with so many options and things to do, you'll be sure to find just what you need to make your holiday a little more exciting."

Dinosaurs Alive! follows American Museum of Natural History paleontologists on their search for dinosaur remains in the Gobi Desert of Mongolia and at Ghost Ranch in New Mexico. The film, narrated by actor Michael Douglas, explores which descendants of dinosaurs live among us today using computer-generated animation to bring some of the earliest dinosaurs to life.

For over 25 years, Forbidden Broadway has been satirizing some of Broadway's most prominent productions. The current show, The Roast of Utopia, is a retrospective of the greatest hits from the last quarter-century; added to the line-up are never-before-seen spoofs including parodies of Mary Poppins, Spring Awakening and Grey Gardens.

The New York Salsa Congress is the three-day, four-night dance event that celebrates Latin moves and music. During the day, choose from over 45 workshops taught by some of the world's most prominent dance instructors. In the evening local and international salsa superstars perform, and the nights conclude, with live bands and DJs spinning into the early morning.
