"This week's segment shows that activities like shopping, visiting the City's parks and beaches or dining out apply to four-legged friends as well."This week's NYC Visit segment featured Trixie + Peanut Pet Emporium, the Dog Beach at Prospect Park and Chez Josephine's restaurant."New York City can appear intimidating for both owners and pets, but it is actually incredibly accommodating," said WNBC anchor Perri Peltz. The City offers many creative activities to make everyone�owners and pets alike�feel welcome."Trixie + Peanut, located in Manhattan's Flatiron District, specializes in high-end pet clothing, accessories and supplies. With a growing list of celebrity clientele, the store stocks a variety of items including carriers, customized collars and tags and even pet costumes.Located in Brooklyn's Prospect Park near the Long Meadow ballfields, the Prospect Park Dog Beach has sectioned off an area for water-loving canines. The "beach," which is actually a sand-colored cement apron, allows dogs to splash around one of the Park's lakes with ease and security. Open during normal park hours, the swimming area is for dogs only.Chez Josephine's, in Manhattan's Theatre District, is an homage to legendary performer Josephine Baker�the adopted mother of owner Jean-Claude Baker.
