�10th Annual Fund-Raising Event Supports Cultural Tourism in All Five Boroughs�



New York City (December 1, 2010)�NYC & Company�s affiliated nonprofit cultural tourism organization, the NYC & Company Foundation, today honored leaders of the fashion and retail industries at its 10th annual fund-raising event at The Plaza Hotel on Wednesday, December 1. The Leadership Awards Gala�hosted by the evening�s Honorary Chairman Mayor Bloomberg, NYC & Company Chairman Emily Rafferty and NYC & Company CEO George Fertitta�recognized Terry J. Lundgren, chairman, president and CEO of Macy�s, Inc.; designer Diane von Furstenberg, president of the Council of Fashion Designers of America (CFDA); and Anna Wintour, editor in chief of Vogue, as distinguished leaders of the fashion and retail industries and contributors to the vibrancy of New York City's arts and cultural community. The NYC & Company Foundation�s cultural tourism development, audience education and outreach projects help sustain more than 200 of New York City�s nonprofit organizations throughout the five boroughs.



�This year�s Leadership Awards Gala honorees have contributed greatly to the fabric of New York City,� said NYC & Company CEO George Fertitta. �Terry J. Lundgren, Diane von Furstenberg and Anna Wintour continue to dedicate their efforts to helping our City�s cultural organizations and initiatives�critical components of New York City�s travel and tourism industry. We can think of no better way to thank them for their innovative work, which has helped identify NYC as the fashion and cultural capital the world over.�



In addition to pioneering New York City�s $55 billion fashion and retail sectors, Terry J. Lundgren, Diane von Furstenberg and Anna Wintour have played significant roles in elevating the City�s positive exposure while strengthening its arts community. Through event funding and program support, these entrepreneurs have generated enthusiasm for the City�s culturals and as well as raised New York City�s global visibility.



Accompanying his titles of chairman, president and CEO of Macy�s, Inc., Lundgren is also a mentor and philanthropist. Lundgren helps future leaders of the fashion and retail industries at Parsons The New School of Design and the Fashion Institute of Technology; serves on the board of Carnegie Hall, among others; and was appointed by Mayor Bloomberg a commissioner on women�s economic development. Lundgren also serves as chairman of the National Retail Federation.



As CFDA President, von Furstenberg engages in projects that foster the American fashion industry and benefit New York City�s vibrancy. Diane currently sits on the board of Vital Voices�a women�s leadership organization that empowers women leaders and social entrepreneurs around the world�and this year established The DVF Awards with The Diller�von Furstenberg Family Foundation to honor women who have displayed leadership, strength and courage in their commitment to their causes. She is also a passionate advocate for the preservation of the historical High Line in the Meatpacking District.



In addition to her daily responsibilities as editor in chief of Vogue, Wintour cultivates new talent through the CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund; preserves and exhibits fashion�s greatest treasures through The Metropolitan Museum of Art�s Costume Institute; and inspires fashion devotees worldwide through New York City�s largest retail and fashion event, Fashion�s Night Out. Wintour�s contributions in developing these initiatives have elevated New York City�s stature as a global fashion capital.



New York City�s cultural institutions are top visitor destinations. In 2009 approximately 19 million domestic and international visitors�42 percent of the City�s total visitors that year�participated in a cultural activity during their stay. In 2010, New York City expects to welcome 47.5 million visitors from around the world.



The NYC & Company Foundation annual event�s past honorees have included Bloomberg President Daniel Doctoroff; Time Warner Chairman and CEO Richard Parsons; Major League Baseball Commissioner Bud Selig; Union Square Hospitality Group founder Danny Meyer; and Mayor Rudolph Giuliani.
