An Abundance of New Unique Venues Cater to Most Discerning Meeting Planners

New York City (May 20, 2008) From elegant hotel ballrooms to a dedicated meetings and events center to a new museum, venues throughout the City provide unique spaces for events, certain to make an impact on attendees. With a variety of original options, New York City gives planners an array of options when it comes to choosing the perfect venue.

In an effort to offer meeting planners a wide range of choices, NYC & Company, the Citys official marketing, tourism and partnership organization, tracks new venues. Over the last year, NYC & Company has helped attract a record 46 million visitors to the City, about one quarter of which are business travelers including the nearly 4 million delegates to trade shows and conventions. With even more unique venues opening and expanding in the City, we want to highlight the fact that there has never been a better time to hold an event in New York City, said George Fertitta, CEO of NYC & Company.

Situated in Midtown, the London NYC has recently introduced a new luxury private event space, redefining the lavish meeting and event experience. The hotel has unveiled the Park, a private floor dedicated entirely to meeting and event space, which pays tribute to Londons parks and consists of three versatile roomsGreen, St. James and Hyde. On the second floor, the Park offers a private entrance, expansive pre-function space and a permanent bar, ideal for serving as an elegant reception area adjoining the three distinct rooms. Completing the experience, the stylish meeting space offers outstanding culinary options provided by renowned chef Gordon Ramsay.

At Edison Ballroom, the impressive 17,000-square-foot space in Midtown, is a chic event choice that has newly received a complete overhaul, while retaining many of the venues original art deco characteristics and much of the original old-world charm.

Freshly renovated, the legendary hotel the Plaza, prominently located at Central Park South, has reopened with a new and contemporary ambiance, and is perfectly suited to those looking to hold an unforgettable event. Featuring an extraordinary 21,000 square feet of new meeting space, comprising seven meeting rooms all equipped with wireless services and state-of-the art conferencing equipment, the stunning venue can accommodate meetings from 10 to 150 people. Alternatively, all seven meeting rooms can be opened to create one large space to accommodate up to 450 guests.

Designed for the sole purpose of holding events, the Times Center, part of the New York Times Tower and headquarters, is located in the heart of the vibrant Theater District, and encompasses a 378-seat auditorium, a 900-square-foot gallery for exhibits and receptions, and a 5,000 square foot hall for banquets and parties. Comprising two separate spaces, TheTimesCenter Stage, which opened at the end of 2007, is appropriate for lectures, small concerts, film screenings, readings, one-person shows, workshops, meetings, seminars, symposia, debates, educational programs, multimedia presentations, awards programs, television and radio broadcasts and product launches. TheTimesCenter Hall is ideal for banquets, receptions, trade shows, exhibitions, performances, lectures, workshops and meetings.

Opening in June 2008, the Roosevelt Hotels new rooftop bar will be available for special events. Atop the 19th floor of the distinguished landmark hotel, guests will enjoy views of Midtown Manhattan, accessible to visitors through an exclusive elevator located through the 46th Street entrance.

Besides showcasing the greatest heroes, the most exciting achievements and the most uplifting stories in all of sports, the just-opened Sports Museum in Lower Manhattan, boasts an expansive 8,000-square-foot event space. Located on the second floor, the space consists of an elegant foyer, pre-function area, as well as state-of-the-art audiovisual services, complemented by polished concrete floors and dramatic architectural lighting.
