Iconic Brooklyn Boardwalk Receives Accolade as Coney Island�s Luna Park Attraction Debuts with Nearly 20 New Rides

New York City (June 10, 2010) ?? NYC & Company, the City�s official marketing, tourism and partnership organization, and the New York City Economic Development Corporation, today lauded the inclusion of the Coney Island Boardwalk in �America�s Best Beach Boardwalks,� an article in Travel + Leisure (travelandleisure.com). The Coney Island Boardwalk, located on the Atlantic Ocean in Brooklyn, was chosen by the editors of Travel + Leisure to be included in the travel feature. The announcement comes soon after Mayor Michael R. Bloomberg celebrated the opening of Luna Park at Coney Island�the first new amusement park to open in Coney Island in nearly 50 years, featuring 19 new rides.

Coney Island�s three-mile boardwalk is one of the country�s most celebrated beach resorts. Located just an hour by subway from midtown Manhattan, Coney Island has been a popular summer draw for visitors and locals for decades. The new Luna Park at Coney Island incorporates a combination of thrill rides, family rides and children�s rides, as well as food and beverage stands, and provides regularly scheduled entertainment offerings. For its inaugural season, Luna Park is open Monday through Friday, from noon until midnight, and on weekends from 11am until midnight.

Coney Island is also home to Nathan�s Famous, home of the annual Fourth of July Hot Dog Eating Contest, as well as the legendary Cyclone roller coaster and the 150-foot Wonder Wheel.
