New York City�s First Contemporary Latin American Art Fair Begins Today


City Businesses Prepare to Welcome Visitors and Couples with Special Offers and Promotions






NEW YORK, NY (November 16, 2007) NYC & Company, the city�s marketing and tourism organization, today announced the start of PINTA, New York City�s first contemporary Latin American art fair, set to be held through Tuesday, Nov. 20, at the Metropolitan Pavilion in Chelsea.


�PINTA showcases the fine work of 35 international art galleries, and coincides with Christie�s and Sotheby�s Latin American art auctions � it�s a unique opportunity to sample some of the city�s best Latin American contemporary art,� said George Fertitta, NYC & Company�s CEO.


The most prestigious art galleries from the US, Latin America and Europe are participating in the five-day event, with 35 of the best art galleries showing museum-quality works representative of the best of abstract, concrete, neo-concrete, kinetic and conceptual art, as well as other contemporary art movements.


Collector, art patron and philanthropist Patricia Phelps de Cisneros is the honorary chairperson of PINTA�s host committee, and Estrellita Brodsky and Gonzalo Parodi are its co-chairs. This year, Brazilian conceptual artist Walt�rico Caldas has been named PINTA�s honoree artist.


The event takes place at the Metropolitan Pavilion, located in Manhattan�s Chelsea neighborhood, at 125 W. 18th Street, between 6th and 7th Avenues.


Hours are today through 8pm, Saturday, the 17th, noon to 8pm; Sunday, the 18th, noon to 8pm; Monday, the 19th, noon to 8pm; and Tuesday, the 20th, noon to 4pm.
