New York, NY (November 4, 2009)—NYC & Company, New York City’s official marketing and tourism organization, today launched NYC Extreme Local™, a guide to 15 neighborhoods in Manhattan and Brooklyn showcasing some of the best of dining, shopping and arts and entertainment with special offers and exclusive access for American Express® Cardmembers from November 27–December 20.

To kick off the program and highlight the benefits of being an “extreme local,” NYC & Company announced the start of THE TWILIGHT SAGA: NEW MOON sweepstakes, which will give more than 300 lucky New Yorkers the opportunity to attend an advance screening of the highly anticipated THE TWILIGHT SAGA: NEW MOON, in Union Square’s Regal 6 Cinema on November 18. Winners of the sweepstakes will receive a pair of tickets to a private pre-screening two days before the movie’s national debut on November 20, 2009. New Yorkers can enter to win by visiting Wireless customers of AT&T, as the official wireless sponsor for NYC Extreme Local, can also enter for a chance to win by texting the letter “x” to NYCGO (69246). As part of the sweepstakes, NYC & Company will use QR® (Quick Response)** mobile technology, which will allow consumers with smartphones to receive information about the sweepstakes simply by scanning a QR Code displayed on print advertisements and bus shelters throughout the City. Information also will be posted on the Extreme Local website.

The 24-day NYC Extreme Local program will highlight the following neighborhoods: BoCoCa, Brooklyn Heights, Chelsea, DUMBO, Flatiron, Gramercy, Midtown, Meatpacking District, NoLIta, SoHo, TriBeCa, Union Square, Upper East Side, Upper West Side and West Village. These neighborhood highlights will be explored in depth on with dedicated content that gives insight about culture, venues and activities.

From November 27–December 20, 2009, American Express will offer Cardmembers a $50 statement credit when they spend at least $300 at three Extreme Local participants. Cardmembers can register their card beginning November 16 to take advantage of the offer. The $50 will be automatically credited to Cardmembers’ monthly statement—no coupons, no codes, no sending in receipts.

In addition, from December 7–11, select participants will host shopping parties from 8–10pm exclusively for American Express Cardmembers, with music, cocktails and retail contests. Participating stores include Diane von Furstenberg, the J.Crew flagship, Phillip Lim, Tory Burch and Intermix.
