NYC & COMPANY ANNOUNCES MAJOR RENOVATION OF VISITOR INFORMATION CENTER IN MIDTOWN MANHATTAN

New, Interactive Multimedia Visitors Center Scheduled to Re-Open in October 2008

New York City (July 1, 2008) NYC & Company, New York Citys marketing, tourism and partnership organization, today announced plans for a major renovation of its main visitor information center located at 810 7th Avenue in Manhattan. The newly redesigned center will reopen in October 2008.

The new VIC will be a truly remarkable, one-of-a-kind place for visitors to get up to date information on all that is happening around the five boroughs, said George Fertitta, CEO, NYC & Company. Mayor Bloomberg has placed a great emphasis on improving customer service for all residents and visitors, and this Center will be a pivotal piece in enhancing the visitor experience.

The new visitor information center will feature interactive smart tables which will allow the user to visually and playfully navigate and explore the New York City; find and book detailed information on attractions, cultural venues, restaurants and more. Multilingual FAQ touch screen kiosks will also quickly provide highlights of the Citys most popular destinations.

During the renovation, an interim visitor center will located within the Times Square Alliance visitor center at 1560 Broadway between 46th and 47th Streets. The center is open seven days a week from 8am to 8pm. An NYC & Company visitor information counselor will be available Monday through Friday from 8:30am-6pm and Saturday and Sunday from 9am to 5pm. The telephone number for the visitor center, (212)484-1222, will remain the same. Visitor information kiosks in the Financial District (26 Wall Street), City Hall Park (Broadway at Park Row) and Chinatown (at the intersection of Canal, Walker and Baxter Streets) remain open and operate on a normal schedule during the renovation.

Visitors and residents are also encouraged to visit nycgo.com for the latest information about what to see and do across the five boroughs.

We want to emphasize that all our other visitor information centers and kiosks remain open for our visitors despite the temporary closure, said Fertitta. Our information kiosks and interim location will have all the information and resources previously available while we wait for the re-opening in the fall.
