—Celebrate Staten Island’s 350th Birthday with Famous Food Trucks, a Manhattan City Music DJ and St. George Sightseeing—

New York City (August 24, 2011) —NYC & Company, the City’s official marketing, tourism and partnership organization, the NYC Food Truck Association and the Staten Island Borough President’s Office announce the Great Staten Island Foodie Truck-athon at the St. George Esplanade, August 27. Produced by NYC & Company in celebration of Staten Island’s 350th birthday, some of New York City’s most popular food trucks will gather in Lot A of the St. George Esplanade, immediately adjacent to the ferry terminal, serving meals from 12pm to 4pm, rain or shine. Enjoy music provided by one of the DJs from Manhattan City Music and have a chance to win limited edition Staten Island and Truck-athon T-shirts during the event giveaways. Entry to the Foodie Truck-athon is free, and food truck menus will range from cupcakes to dumplings to lobster rolls.

A sampling of Staten Island’s rich cultural heritage will be on-site with representatives from the St. George Theatre, Staten Island Museum and Staten Island Children’s Museum to explain more about the many unique cultural institutions in St. George. After lunch take the five-minute scenic drive or one-mile bike ride to Snug Harbor Cultural Center & Botanical Garden or head toward the Alice Austen House Museum, National Lighthouse Museum, Historic Richmond Town, Garibaldi-Meucci Museum or the Staten Island Zoo.
