NYC & COMPANY EMBARKS ON PAN-EUROPEAN MICE ROADSHOW

City’s Official Destination Marketing Organization Visits Leeds, London, Copenhagen and Munich to Showcase New York City’s Unrivalled Meetings Experiences

London, United Kingdom (September 26, 2016) — NYC & Company, New York City’s official destination marketing organization, kicks off its 2016 European MICE Road Show today, visiting leading business centers of Leeds, London, Copenhagen and Munich. From September 26 to 29, members of the Convention Development team at NYC & Company will showcase New York’s offerings as a leading global meetings and incentive destination to influential European buyers, highlighting the City’s world-class event venues, meeting spaces and incentive activities.

“New York City offers unmatched meeting and incentive experiences, from world-class hotels to one-of-a-kind venues and activities,” said Jerry Cito, Senior Vice President of Convention Development at NYC & Company. “With over 6 million delegates choosing to ‘Make it NYC’ each year, NYC & Company is pleased to be in Europe to meet face-to-face with some of the continent’s leading meetings professionals.”

“The City continues to be a highly anticipated meeting and incentive destination thanks to new hotel and venue developments, and immersive activities throughout the five boroughs,” added Paul Black, Senior Director of European MICE at NYC & Company. “With newly redesigned hotel ballrooms, historic spaces and first-rate meeting venues opening this year, New York City continues to innovate in order to attract delegates looking for their next productive meeting, incentive or event.”

NYC & Company’s Convention Development team will emphasize the widespread impact that the Meetings, Incentives, Conferences and Exhibitions (MICE) industry has on New York City’s five boroughs, which totalled an economic impact of more than $5 billion USD in 2015.

The team will showcase new and newly renovated hotels, including the Four Seasons Hotel New York Downtown, The William Vale Hotel in Williamsburg and 1 Hotel Brooklyn Bridge, in addition to meeting spaces such as the newly restored Weylin B. Seymour’s venue in Williamsburg, which can host events for up to 1,000 guests, and Convene Park Avenue which is Midtown Manhattan’s newest dedicated meeting space.

European buyers will also be updated on the Jacob K. Javits Center’s $1 billion expansion, with construction to begin by end of year, adding more than 1.2 million square feet of additional event space in the coming years, including the largest ballroom in the Northeast at 60,000 square feet. Adjacent to the Javits Center, the Hudson Yards development will be the largest private real estate development in the history of the United States and the largest development in New York City since Rockefeller Center when complete in 2025. Hudson Yards will offer planners additional event space, a new Equinox hotel, cultural activities, restaurants, shops and more.

Organizations joining the 2016 European MICE Road Show include Lotte New York Palace, New York Hilton Midtown, YOTEL New York, InterContinental New York Barclay, Starwood Hotels & Resorts, The Lexington New York City, Spring Studios and New York Marriott Marquis.

The mission coincides with the recent announcement that New York City was recognized as the best mid to log haul destination at the 2016 C&IT Awards in London.
